...that's what I made last night.
Hash browns, bacon, eggs (Scrambled for me, over-easy for my buddy) and plenty of toast with raspberry jam.
Anyway, that got me thinking...How unusual is that, really? Do you like breakfast foods at breakfast time, and dinner foods at the end of a day? Are you a formal meal person, with meat and potatoes and a veggie or two, or a big ol' sandwich and a cuppa chowder on the side?
Living alone, with my kids all grown, I'm not so much the formal meal person I once was, as much as I am a comfort food nut. Grilled cheese and tomato soup, french toast slathered in melt-y butter and maple syrup, hot chocolate with whipped cream or marshmallows, or good spicy chili...not mixed together, and certainly not all at once, but..give me any one of those items on the right day and time, and all's right in my lil' world.
Now, my Rock n' Roll Buddy, he's definitely a breakfast- for-dinner person. Yup, there is no doubt about it,so....about every three or four weeks I treat him to breakfast for dinner. (He gets his favorite meal and I get to indulge myself cooking, which I so enjoy, and don't do often enough these days!)
Mmmmmm, comfort food, for sure.

Breakfast for dinner is a treat for me!
ReplyDeleteTracey, I love breakfast for dinner - in fact, that is what I had for dinner last night! I'm with you on the casual meals in general and you are speaking my language with the comfort foods. Mm-m good!
ReplyDeleteMy mom and my sister do breakfast for dinner at least every couple of weeks. I can't say that I've ever done it for my family, but I'm not opposed to it! French toast is good any time of day!!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I cannot, will not eat breakfast at any other time but for breakfast! I think it's because I am not terribly wild about eating alot at breakfast- maybe a bowl of cereal, a bagel, a yogurt. Oh- now I DO enjoy a breakfast strata kinda thing- you know- you prepare the casserole the night before and it soaks up the milk and egg mixture overnight and bake in the AM... LOVE that, but too fattening for very often! So, no breakfast for dinner for me, but leftover pizza for breakfast? NOW we're talkin'! I can eat ANYTHING anytime, except breakfast for dinner!
ReplyDeleteIn this busy world, who has time to make a full breakfast first thing in the morning? I don't know how June Cleaver did it! So sure, breakfast for supper/dinner is a lovely treat! I like the pancake and sausage duo and bacon/eggs/hashbrowns combos the best. When we have pancakes, the first ones are eaten with syrup and the final one is the dessert one...sprinkled with sugar! YUM!
ReplyDeleteI love to make an omelet for dinner. They are one of my favorites!!
ReplyDeleteI do breakfast for dinner, too, Tracey! Most often when it is an evening that I'm on my own. I'll either do a ham and cheese omelet or poached eggs {with melted American on top}; sometimes I'll have either breakfast sausage with it or bacon, depending on my mood, and you have got to have hash browns if your going to do it right.
ReplyDeleteYou might be interested to hear that I read something last year that said it is good for your brain to eat breakfast for dinner sometimes. Apparently, it keeps the "brain" on its toes. That made me feel good because I've been having breakfast for dinner every few weeks for years!
HUGE fan of breakfast for dinner and supper, and am a big breakfast eater from way back. Bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, toast, especially.
ReplyDeleteBut I also love supper for breakfast...especially tacos, spicy sausage soup, and Fiesta chicken Caesar salad.
So funny-- we had breakfast for dinner last night! Eggs over easy, turkey bacon, toast, honey...and since it is summertime, sliced tomatoes! YUM! ;)
ReplyDeleteI also LOVE breakfast for dinner- turkey bacon and a couple of eggs scrambled is perfect!
ReplyDeleteLovely blog!
I see others share my love of breakfast for dinner too! Sometimes I feel I am alone on this because my husband thinks it makes no sense to eat "breakfast food" other than for breakfast. And, being the great cook that he is, his late Sunday morning breakfasts are spectacular. But, every so often, he'll take me to dinner at a restaurant that serves breakfast all day. I get a breakfast fix and he gets his meat and potatoes . . . keeps us both happy. There's just something comforting about over easy eggs, sausage patties, hashbrowns, and biscuits (no matter what time of day or night)! I always save a couple biscuits for last, load them with strawberry preserves, and that's dessert!
ReplyDeleteWe love breakfast for dinner. And comfort foods always.
